NEW DELHI: The 14th edition of biennial motor show came to end last week which held from 9 – 14 February, 2018 with an extension of one day. This year Auto Expo witnessed over 500 products from 119 exhibitors which further tracked down 6,05,175 visitors during this event. There was a huge uproar over social media whereas twitter gathered over 4.5 billion impressions which shows the engrossment and an enthusiasm among people for the Auto Expo’18.
The Expo also witnessed different types of electric vehicles from Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra which includes eco – friendly technology whereas other luxury vehicles like Mercedes-Benz and BMW were also showcased their new models. The event also witnessed 22 new launches, 81 products displayed, and 18 concepts were unveiled during the period of 6 days. The 2018 Motor show envisioned participation of 14 new brands in the automotive sector which includes Kia Motors India, Cleveland CycleWerks and India Kawasaki Motors among others. There were around 11 startup companies which showcased their future products.
This year, Auto Expo was jointly organised by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). Sugato Sen, Deputy Director General, SIAM said, “We had 6,05,175 footfalls during this edition of the Auto Expo, as was expected. The extension of the Auto Expo by one day has been welcomed by visitors and manufacturers alike. It helped us manage the crowd efficiently, use the infrastructure optimally with no bottlenecks on roads and parking. The feedback received from all quarters has been positive and has been a wonderful experience for all which was one of the key objectives of the Motor Show.”
Every edition of Expo, there were possibilities of bollywood celebrities like Shahrukh Khan, Tapsee Pannu, John Abraham, Akshay Kumar and many others which made their presence to motivate the young minds. The Indian cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir also made their presence during the motor show.
