New Delhi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited controversial period drama finally get released on 25th January, is an ultimate reminder for all the haters and protesters who created a huge fuss over the film release that people are still believe in freedom of speech and expression. Padmaavat’s performance created a magnum opus collection at the box office during this weekend.
After several banning protests and death threats on the maker’s of Padmaavat, despite film got reviewed again by CBFC asking for some cuts and later title changed to “Padmaavat”. Now the huge controversy leads people to get through the ticket counter of cinema halls in big numbers which instantly gives maximum weekend collection as expected by many analyst’s .
The filmmaker Bhansali caught in a massive trouble over the film’s outline by depicting Rani Padmini who committed jauhar(self-immolation) to avoid the supremacy of Allauddin Khilji who seized Chittorgarh fort in 1303 to capture her. This leads to a storm of protests by several religious groups who was against towards the film alleging that the history have been crooked and degrades the honour of Rani Padmini, Rajput queen.
Despite of several cuts and many hurdles over the release of Padmaavat, the film now crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in its first weekend. The film earned a whooping collection of Rs 114 crore in total over the weekend screening’s. This collection shows that how responsive people get over the issue and gives the meaning towards freedom of speech. The leading actors Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh got much appreciation from both critics and audience.
