NEW DELHI: Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15th august since 1947 when Indian subcontinent gained its freedom from British Empire (East India Company). On 15th August, Independence Day is celebrated in all states and union territories of India. It is one of the three national holidays. Indian Independence Movement took place in 1857 till the British parliament passed the Indian independence Act 1947.
The Indian Independence movement lasted for a long period of 90 years. Many great Known and unknown freedom fighters took part in this movement to liberate India. Many of these exceptional freedom fighters gave their lives to the noble cause of liberating India from British rule. Some fighters use violence as the weapon to free India while the others thought that India can only be liberated through non-violence. But each and every freedom fighter wanted to free India from the East India Company and British Rule.
Each year Indian Prime minister hoists the flag of India on the famous historical monument Red Fort in Delhi. After that twenty-one gun shots are fired to honor this solemn ceremony and great men (legends) who have fought for the nation. Honorable Prime minister delivers a speech, in which he shares the development plans and policies to the whole nation and some issues about the development and growth of the country and also honoring and praising the great leaders who took part in Indian Independence Movement. After giving the speech the National Anthem “Jana Gana Mana” is sung. Followed by the march past by parliamentary and Indian Armed Forces.
Throughout The whole country ceremonies containing flag hoisting, cultural programmes are held in all institution whether government or non-government. In many cities people celebrate Independence Day by flying tri-color kites. People wear tri color clothes, wrist and head bands to show their love for the nation. Narendra Modi, PM stated in his speech about various things like how to fight against terror and on other hand the nation has come together to support GST & the role of technology has also helped. He also mentioned about the peaceful livelihoods for poor people and for that we have to come together for positive change.
