Enjoy this Summer season with these chilling food items! Keep Hydrated..!!

NEW DELHI:  You know how you’re supposed to drink 8 glasses of water per day? Right, well, this is an antiquated health mandate, but a lot of us were never doing such a great job of following it anyway. And if you haven’t developed the habit of steady sipping throughout the day, that can seem like a daunting task on some days, but here’s the catch: You don’t have to drink all that water. Roughly 20% of our daily H2O intake comes from solid foods, especially fruits and vegetables. It’s still important to drink plenty of water—especially in the summertime—but you can also quench your thirst on these food items.

Few foods are as cool as a cucumber. These low-calorie veggies contain many nutritional benefits, including hydrating properties and valuable nutrients. This summer subsistence which has the highest water capacity of any solid food item—is perfect in salads, or sliced up. Cucumbers are good sources of phytonutrients (plant chemicals that have protective or disease preventive properties) such flavonoids, lignans and triterpenes, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits. The peel and seeds are the most nutrient-dense parts of the cucumber. They contain fiber and beta-carotene, a form of vitamin A that is good for eyes. Cucumbers are naturally low in calories, carbohydrates, sodium, fat and cholesterol.  The anti-inflammatory compounds in cucumbers help remove waste from the body and reduce skin irritation. Cucumbers contains 95 percent water which makes them a great way to stay hydrated, especially during the summer.

Our eyes require vitamin C to protect them from exposure to free-radicals from the sun’s harsh UV rays, which can damage the protein in the lens. Vitamin C also plays an important role in strengthening the eye’s cornea and retina.  Heart Diseases is one of the leading problems in India, and strawberries is a way that reduce cholesterol and play a vital role to get a control on your diabetes. Yogurt will give you a dose of animal protein (about 9 grams per 6-ounce serving), plus several other nutrients found in dairy foods, like calcium, vitamin B-2, vitamin B-12, potassium, and magnesium. When you eat yogurt, the calcium signals your fat cells to pump out less cortisol, making it easier for you to drop pounds, while the amino acids help burn fat. It will also maintain your red blood cells and helps keep your nervous system functioning properly. Yogurt can be an excellent source of protein. The protein in yogurt may also help increase the amount of water absorbed by the intestines, improving hydration.
