Hindu Mahasabha calls UPSC topper’s decision to marry Kashmiri youth “Love Jihad”..!!

NEW DELHI: Yes, we are talking about Tina Dabi, a 22-year-old woman from Delhi who has topped the 2015 civil services examination on her first attempt. She has done her schooling from the Convent of Jesus & Mary in New Delhi. She topped CBSE Class 12th Board in Political Science by getting 100 out of 100  marks in the above-mentioned subject. After completing her schooling, she applied for the Lady Shri Ram College For Women in 2011 and took admission in B.A. Political Science. She was also the topper of LSR in her batch.

But after Dabi made made an official announcement through facebook post that she is in a relationship with Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, who ranked second in UPSC. Dabi says their parents have accepted their relationship and were happy about her choice. “As any freethinking independent woman I am entitled to certain choices. I am very happy with my choice and so is Aamir. Our parents are happy too. But there will always be those elements, that small minority who will always pass negative comments about dating someone from another religion. It is just that 5%. The majority are very happy . You would have seen in my Facebook timeline that most of the comments are encouraging. In fact, I am overwhelmed by the support and congratulatory messages. I thought ‘yeh to achcha hai” (this is good.),’” Dabi says.

The story of Khan, a Kashmiri from a small village, and Dabi, a Delhi girl born in a Dalit family, highlights how the country’s complex social structure is witnessing a sea of change. Dabi says they would be tying the knot very soon. The couple has been quite open about their relationship, with Dabi sharing pictures of their time together in Netherlands with friends.

While all of Indian social media celebrated the union of IAS topper Tina Dabi and Athar Aamil-ul Shafi Khan, who lost the first rank to Dabi, a far right organisation has allegedly written a letter to Dabi’s parents calling the couple’s union ‘love jihad’. But after the declaration of her relationship with Aamir, there were lot of criticisms faced by loved couple but she stood against all the negativity with her firm expression.

National secretary of the Hindu Mahasabha, Munna Kumar Sharma, wrote to Dabi’s parents that while he was happy about her achievements, Dabi’s father should reconsider the match and also demanded that Athar be first persuaded to undergo ‘ghar wapsi’. It was only last week that Dabi and Khan’s wedding plans had created quite the buzz on social media. The Hindu Mahasabha has also claimed that this was love jihad.
