Salman Khan’s “SULTAN” 2016: Highest grossing movie of Indian cinema at the Box Office.

New Delhi: Salman Khan starrer “Sultan” released on July 6, a day before Eid this year. As predicted before by film experts, the film has seen tremendous business at the ticket counters. Apart from Khan, Sultan also stars Anushka Sharma, Randeep Hooda, Amit Sadh, Parikshit Sahni, Kumud Mishra in key roles and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, produced by Yash Raj Films Production.

The film is expected to be amongst the biggest blockbusters of the Indian Cinema till date due to its 100% occupancy in advance bookings.The film showcased Salman Khan in an ultimate sophisticated role of a wrestler Sultan Ali Khan who belongs to a Haryanvi background, an Olympic gold medalist, who is forced to exit the ring due to personal problems. When the owner of a dying MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) championship decides to get Sultan back to revive the league, the wrestler is pulled out of retirement.

Sultan is the biggest opener of 2016, the film has done the highest business of all Salman Khan Films and it has broken all records of this year. On Tuesday (July 12), the film is guaranteed to reach the Rs. 200-crore club, according to trade experts. This will make Sultan the third Salman Khan-starrer in Rs 200-crore club after Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Kick.

The movie made Rs 36.54 crore on Wednesday at the box office. With Eid being postponed by a day, it was a working day but had no effect on the film’s business. Day 2, which also happened to be Eid, kept the footfalls coming. With almost 90 percent occupancy in halls, the business was Rs 37.32 crore. On Friday, the third day of the film’s release, there was a minor drop in box office collections but it was still a very respectable Rs 31.67 crore. Despite it being a working day, the positive word of mouth kept the audience coming in. Saturday, the weekend magic began to work. There was a spike in numbers and the Salman wrestling drama earned Rs 37.1 crore. Sultan had the highest earnings to report on day 5, which happened to be a Sunday. The movie earned Rs 38.21 crore, bringing the film’s total earning to Rs 180.36 crore.

The Yash Raj Films production has done a gross box office collection of Rs 252.5 crore ($ 37.7 million) in India and Rs 92 crore ($ 13.7 million) abroad, according to a communication from the banner. The total gross box office collection of the film now stands at Rs 344.5 crore ($ 51.4 million) and is said to be the highest for any Bollywood film in its opening weekend. Sultan is highly appreciated in other parts of the world like Britain, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, UAE – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman (GCC Countries) which leads to the highest opening weekend collection record by any Hindi film.

“Sultan” is a Salman’s tenth 100 crore film at the domestic box office. Due to the super success of the Sultan, Salman Khan is the newly crowned king of the box office with his back to back smashing hits in 100 crore club. His journey through the films Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Kick, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 1 & Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Jai Ho, and Ready are the one’s which reveals that Bhaijaan Salman is the face of the box office collection who owns it with a grand openings by his persona amongst audiences.

Despite the fact that during the promotions of Sultan, he had gave a remark that he ‘felt like a raped woman’ on how he had managed to shoot in langot in a presence of 5000 people which leads to huge criticism faced by Salman Khan before release. Apart from this, it was Salman’s innumerable fans who took it upon themselves to make Sultan a blockbuster despite threats of boycott from several sections of the society.
